Using ChatGPT to Write Articles? Don’t Do it.
Many users of medium.com have begun using ChatGPT to write their articles for them. I think this shouldn’t happen. It causes the articles to appear bland, and not enjoyable to read. But to dive further into this topic, you need to know. What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAi and launched in November 2022. It is built using supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. In recent months, its popularity has been rising among tech enthusiasts and everyone who uses the internet. Now, people are beginning to write articles using ChatGPT, but, is this a good idea?
Probably not, a few months after ChatGPT was released, I decided to write a couple of articles using ChatGPT. I published them to medium, they did terribly. Every single one got zero views. Why? Well, the answer is most likely due to the language not being natural, it just didn't have personality. The medium moderation team most likely saw this and, as a result, didn’t curate any of the articles. Then, I decided to never write an article using ChatGPT again and proceeded to delete the articles I had made. This doesn’t mean the same will happen to you, but it is what happened in my experience
Can you be successful with ChatGPT? Well, the answer depends. If you plan on writing entire articles with ChatGPT, then no, it just won’t work. Although if you use it for idea creation or information-gathering it can be a helpful tool to incorporate into your writing as it is a very advanced ai chatbot capable of gathering large amounts of information.
If you are planning on using ChatGPT for information-gathering or creative inspiration, you still need to fact-check it as some of the information may be outdated. On the website, it states that the information is from before 2021. The page also notes that it may occasionally generate false information and that it could produce harmful instructions or biased content. So, before you post a series of texts from ChatGPT, you should review, and fact-check it for untrue data.
I believe that ChatGPT does have a place in the world of writing, but I don’t think it should be used to write entire articles. They will come out sounding bland and without personality. Resulting in nobody wanting to follow your account, and as a result, not getting many views. Also, one more thing. Please. Do not entirely rely upon ChatGPT. It won’t solve all your problems.
